“More wind energy, less gas-fired power” is Vietnam Government’s feedback on the latest PDP8 draft.
Vietnam Government has provided feedback on the latest PDP8 draft, calling for an increase in wind power and a decrease in gas-fired and coal power. Notification No. 277/TB-VPCP was issued by the Office of the Government on 6 September 2022, directing the Ministry of Industry and Trade to plan the PDP8 accordingly.
The Government has also directed relevant authorities to review all solar energy planning for economic efficiency and to prevent economic loss, particularly by addressing any unreasonable calculation of electricity prices. Additionally, it is crucial to evaluate the impact of rooftop solar power resources for self-consumption, rather than selling to the national power system.
Notification 277 further emphasizes the need to examine the scale of electricity to be purchased from neighboring countries, notably Laos.
